I love colorful houses and suspect many people are afraid of color. There is just so  much brown/beige/tan that I can take!

Maybe it comes from spending so much time in the tropics but to me, color really makes a place look more cheerful and not so serious. Of course, it would be look ridiculous to have too many brightly colored houses in, say, New England ... but then again some Irish houses are painted bright or intense colors as a counter to the dreary weather much of the time.

Post your colorful houses/builidings here.

Yeah, this would never work in New England because Americans hate being told what color they must paint their house. It's all about "private property" and fuck the broader aesthetic concerns.

In places like Antigua, Guatemala, Copenhagen, Denmark or the city above in Ireland, you aren't changing the color of your house without the permission of the municipality.

Unfortunately, most people in this country think that "rights" are only connected to property. Rights that aren't based on property ownership are usually disregarded or rejected altogether.  Sad

today nearly all new houses are built in a subdivision and colored some dull shade of bird shit.
what is worse, nearly all new houses require registering with some kind of HOA.  they HOA will drop the hammer if you re-paint or re-side your house something other than some dull shade of bird shit.

Houses in St. John's Newfoundland are also brightly coloured.  The weather is pretty awful there if it's not summer or fall.  Makes sense to have colourful houses in these places.
