KunstlerCast #31: Twilight of the Mall Era - Part 2

Dead Mall Walking

In this installment, we conclude our two-part series on suburban shopping malls. James Howard Kunstler travels through the Colonie Center shopping mall in suburban Albany, N.Y. Kunstler rides the escalator, samples chicken teriyaki at the food court and chats with the sales clerks of a store that only sells baseball hats. As he takes in the ambient sounds of an indoor water fountain, Kunstler muses on the twilight of the mall era. He also shares his feelings about spending the morning in the mall and states bluntly that he feels no regret for the demise of these temples of acquisition. Released: Sept. 18, 2008.
