KunstlerCast #32: The Future of Airline Travel

Will flying become a privileged activity?

James Howard Kunstler says that the airline industry is visibly disintegrating around us and it probably won't be around in the form we know it for much longer. He predicts that air travel will be very different in as few as 36 months: cheap airfares for the broad middle class will not be available; long distance air routes might be temporarily nationalized; eventually, flying will become an increasingly elite activity for the wealthy. So should we just live it up now and hop on those cheap flights to Mexico? What about Jim's own flying habits -- does he feel hypocritical when he darts around the country by plane to give talks? Kunstler addresses these questions. And a listener reacts to the previous shopping mall episodes. Released: Sept. 25, 2008.
